Dear children, parents, carers and guardians, it has been a pleasure to welcome you all back after the lovely Christmas break.
Dear children, parents, carers and guardians, it has been a pleasure to welcome you all back after the lovely Christmas break.
We are delighted with how quickly the children have settled back into life in our Hundon family and it's been great to see all of the children's smiling faces in Hawthorn Class.
For our themed learning this half term, we are going back in time to discover ‘Frozen Kingdoms’ with our ‘driver’ for the theme Geography. This project teaches children about the characteristics and features of polar regions, including the North and South Poles, and includes a detailed exploration of the environmental factors that shape and influence them.
Our Science learning will concentrate on the Electrical Circuits and Components, focusing on how the voltage of cells affects the output of a circuit and how to record circuits using standard symbols. It also teaches children about programmable devices, sensors and monitoring. As part of our Computing learning sessions we will be focusing on learning about the Mars Rover and how technology allows us to explore the planet of Mars.
- In language development our French sessions will be focusing on developing vocabulary about the what is in the French home and our homes. They will develop their knowledge from key words to putting them in full sentences.
In PSHEE, our learning will have a focus of making the right and safe financial choices. Our BRAVE learning will be focused on Muslims and how they follow Hadith.
Our Music lessons will be based on Baroque music where the children will explore the history of opera and will have the chance to compose some of their own music in the same style.
In English we will be reading ‘The Wolf Wilder’ by Katherine Rundell which supports our themed learning by telling the story of a girl Feo, who works to wild wolfs in frozen Russia. During the term, our writing will be linked with our theme and the book, starting with a setting description and then writing a narrative.
In Maths will continue looking at Fractions this half term. This will include multiplying and dividing, adding and subtracting and comparing and ordering fractions. After this, we will move on to our second unit of Multiplication and Division.
